TECHNOMARMELADE
TECHNOMARMELADE is an absurd-grotesque physical theatre duet by Eszter Parragi and Dahlia Nyx about power relations in private and intimate relationships, with live music by Katarzyna Wieczerzak.
A card game decides which of the two female characters will receive the attribute of power: a noble hat. The winner becomes a lady, the loser a servant.
Both are in a hierarchical relationship to each other. How long will this remain pleasurable for them? What happens when the pleasure is lost?
Our concern is to process entanglements of power, dependence, and eroticism in an artistic and complex way. We act largely non-verbally, accompanied by raw poetic live music and songs. Aesthetically, the piece is inspired by silent films.

AUDIENCE DISCUSSION WITH THEATERSCOUTINGS
“Two grotesque characters (played by Eszter Parragi and Dahlia Nyx) are caught in a delicate power game: in a series of kooky vignettes, they shape-shift between slave and dominatrix, jester and soldier, friend and foe. From seducing each other with cherry tomatoes to a card game gone rogue, they edge into a complex, shifting relationship of interdependency. The live music by Katarzyna Wieczerzak amplifies the action with re-imagined folk songs, giving the swift twists and turns a cinematic feel. In a sweet-and-sour power-jam, Technomarmelade mixes desire with absurdity, torment with sparkle.”
